It's impossible to ignore possibly the greatest aspect of country music and what makes it such a resonant genre - the songwriting! The Songwriters' Café celebrates the penning of original tunes and introduces you to some new and familiar faces behind the music we love. This three-day, acoustic in-the-round performance is sure to inspire and evoke some strong emotions in all of us. So stop by for a listen and you'll surely be glad you did. The Songwriters' Café presents non-established artists selected by a national jury process as well as some established songwriters and features some of our best talent in the field of songwriting.


This year, the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) is pleased to welcome both emerging and established songwriters including Autumn Hill, The Command Sisters, Jack Connolly, Jaida Dreyer, Livy Jeanne, Keith & Renee, David Leask, Heather Longstaffe, The Lovelocks, Katie Mission, Jess Moskaluke, Wes Mack, Lisa Brokop, Tracey Brown & Randall Prescott, Joni Delaurier, Eddie Eastman, Andrea England, Adam Gregory, The Heartbroken, Hey Romeo, Lindi Ortega, Jake Mathews, and Tebey.

CCMA Discovery Program Showcase nbtn ticket

In March 2013, the Canadian Country Music Association® introduced the CCMA Discovery Program to educate and support Canadian country music artists in their pursuit of a career in country music.

Submissions were received from across Canada to be one of six (6) jury selected acts to participate in a Music Industry Discovery Week in Toronto (June 2013), a Mentorship Program throughout the Summer and perform in the CCMA Discovery Showcase at Country Music Week® this September in Edmonton.

In June 2013, the inaugural 2013 CCMA Discovery Program participants; Tim Chaisson (Bear River, PEI), Jack Connolly (Shawnigan Lake, B.C.), Wes Mack (Calgary, AB), Mackenzie Porter (Medicine Hat, AB) , Blake Reid (Cremona, AB) and The Reklaws (Cambridge, ON) were all in Toronto to take part in a hugely successful Music Industry Discovery Week.

The Canadian Country Music Association is proud to present an exciting new addition to this year’s Country Music Week line-up! On Friday, September 6 at 7:30pm, you don’t want to miss the CCMA Legends Show: A Tribute to Yesterday & Today at the Citadel’s Shocter Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta.

Sharing in the celebration are the Canadian country music artists who have paved the way for this generation of country music performers. Canadian Country Music Hall of Famers Carroll Baker, Marie Bottrell, Johnny Burke, Dick Damron, Harlan Smith and Joyce Smith will be taking to the stage along with several of today’s radio sensations including Aaron Lines, Jason Blaine, Tim Hicks, The Orchard, Bobby Wills, High Valley and more!

This memorable evening will be hosted by former CCMA nominee and newly-signed Warner recording artist, Brett Kissel!

The CCMA Rock’n Country Cabaret was a runaway success last year, now the Canadian Country Music Association® wants Edmonton to get in on the fun! The evening is a blend of country stars performing their best-loved hit songs along with high-energy rock covers that you won’t hear anywhere else. This cabaret-with-a-twist boasts a powerhouse lineup that includes the hottest new talent alongside an array of fan favourites who have collectively won over a dozen CCMA Awards.  Performers include:

This truly unique collaborative performance is filled with some of the biggest names in country music songwriting and will let you in on the inspiration behind some of the most equally famous songs. The only thing better than hearing your favourite songs performed as they were originally intended to be heard in an intimate, acoustic in-the-round setting is hearing the stories behind these hits. This musically flavourful performance is always a Country Music Week treat that will certainly leave you wanting more every time.


This year, Country Music Week Delegates will be treated to an afternoon of can't miss performances by some of country music's most accomplished, celebrated and awarded hit makers including Byron Hill (George Strait's 'Fool Hearted Memory', Anne Murray's 'Over You'), Carolyn Dawn Johnson (Chely Wright’s 'Single White Female', ‘Complicated’ self recorded), Brett Jones (Jason Aldean's 'Crazy Town', Trace Adkins' 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk'), and celebrated Canadian country music icon and Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer (1989), Ian Tyson ('Four Strong Winds', which has been recorded by artists including Johnny Cash and Neil Young, and in 2005, was chosen as Canada’s #1 song of the 20th century by CBC listeners).


The CCMA Great Guitar Pull is open to both registered Country Music Week delegates and those who have purchased a ticket; limited tickets will be available for public purchase.

The final installment in our series of Awards ceremonies is also the biggest; the televised CCMA Awards Broadcast brings together the most current names in Canadian country music for an evening full of award presentations, star performances and special guest presenters with lots of 'moments' to remind you of what you're celebrating. Catch a glimpse of your favourite stars as they attend the ceremony or take the stage to perform and hopefully accept an award. This is the moment everyone has been waiting for, so take a seat and enjoy the show!
